Umm... hold the function key and try again. If that does not work, do a Bios update and try again. If that does not work, invest in gaming glasses that reduce blur.

Under Linux, the hid-asus kernel module needs to be patched to acknowledge the new USB product ID of the keyboard, and a few other small changes are necessary. I'm planning on submitting patches to the Linux kernel sometime in November 2019. Hopefully I'll be able to clean up my code to meet the kernel team's standards and get it merged in time for the version that goes into Ubuntu 20.04 This ROG (and a few others) use special keyboard USB hidraw events instead of the previously common Asus WMI events, so any older driver that expects WMI events for brightness won't work.
