If you’re paying for one gigabit Internet then one gigabit is all you’re going to get at the max. Coverage usually measured in square feet is a different matter and depends on many variables besides size of the area of your home. I can tell you that it is definitely not as easy as plugging it in based on your questions I would suggest you pay the Geek Squad to install it, and Connect it to your existing system
