This machine is what I'd call "portable" in the sense that you can transport it from power outlet to power outlet, but if you plan to actually use it on battery you're going to have a bad time. If battery life is a concern, don't bother with this machine. You might get about 2.5 hours if you're very careful and don't do much more than watch Netflix with a dim screen. Of course a real gaming workload will chop the battery life down to *maybe* an hour if you're lucky, but keep in mind performance is at least halved while on battery, which defeats much of the point. That said, I just posted a review about how the power adapter it comes with cannot even sustain the machine while gaming, so the battery slowly drains while plugged in. The power adapter also gets wicked hot, like burn your house down hot. Avoid this laptop if those are concerns to you.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's a gaming laptop, so battery life isn't great. Just light use, I can usually get about 4 hours out of it. While gaming, sometimes only an hour and a half.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If I were you I would look else where, the battery life is not the best on this computer. the best I have gotten is a little over 3d hours and that was with the back lite lights off. Once I turned the back lite lights on, My battery seems like it is always low

Yes, that even with the touted, "Up to 5 hrs.", from ASUS. A lot of the professional reviews out there will back up the 3 "hourish" mark. I will also say, this laptop is a great value for what you get.
