“So am I suppose to see a difference in brightness while on battery with the vari-bright turning on/off? Got my hands on the g14 yesterday, was told to turn it off, but I didn't notice any difference. I can't even tell if its running at 500nit or no”

You will tell if its running at 500 nits. But keep vari bright off, also uninstall gamevisual in the armoury crate if you do a quick search on reddit you can figure out how to do it.
