This router does plug into the modem provided by your internet provider. Your WiFi will be as fast as your internet service allows, it will handle up to a 1 gigabit connection. Keep in mind that the WiFi will only be as fast as the device that it is connected to. If the device supports the AX or WiFi 6 standard (which there aren't many yet) then it will have the fastest speeds but if the device, laptop or cell phone only supports AC or bellow it will only connect at those slower speeds.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it plugs into the modem via a cat5 cable. It will handle just about everything that will throw at it. If internet speed is still slow look at the modem, or the internet provider and the package you have. I have a 96Mbps download and a 35.8Mbps upload. That is being throttled down from the provider. Still able to stream 3 to 5 shows at a time with this download speed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This plugs into your modem, but will not make your external internet connection faster. The Wi-Fi speed in your home may be faster than it is currently, if you do not have a Wi-Fi 6 router.
