I spent almost 4 weeks researching several+ different models of routers. I wanted something that would replace my dependable but aging AirPort Extreme. It needed to be easy to deploy, provide dependable wifi signal range throughout my modest size house, stout enough for tv streaming, secure for my daily home office activities, and intuitive for any troubleshooting or expanding I may encounter - attributes similar to my AirPort Extreme. Product reviews for both the product & its manufacturer needed to be consistently good across the board. The ASUS RT-AX82U ticked all the boxes. I am delighted with my decision as install & setup went without any issues. All of my devices auto-connected & I was good to go within 15+ minutes. The only thing left to confirm is this router’s longevity. Time will tell. Btw, I was impressed with the ASUS RT-AX82U’s packaging. It was clear to me ASUS is proud of its product by showcasing it in visually outstanding as well as robust packaging. That said, I am confident I made the right decision. Several hours later as my day winds down, wifi signal is strong through out my house. My iPad signal indicator remains @ full strength no matter where I am in my house. Ookla’s Speedtest app shows a nice bounce in my broadband speed as well. I am certainly not a tech expert. But I know enough to do basic tech stuff. Even my neighbor was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly & efficiently I got things up & running. And btw, it's been one month since I deployed this router and signal strength is excellent, range is wonderful & dependability is very good. Thanks ASUS for a good experience!

My century link C4000 modem stopped working. I have century link fiber with claimed speeds up to 940Mbps. I was told I could only use their modems. I originally purchased the TP-Link Archer AX3000 4-stream gigabit wifi 6 router. The TP-Link setup was much easier that the ASUS RTAX82U. At the startup page for the TP-Link I just selected Century Link as the provider and it automatically selected the PPPoE and VLAN tagging ID to 201. With the ASUS router I had to select PPoE then go to another menu and select 201. I think this will confuse the average customer. The ASUS router has great area of coverage. I tested the 2.4GHz channel all the way out the sidewalk with 3 bars on my phone. This is great for my Wyze cameras that run on 2.4GHz. I got full download and upload speeds! The router also looks nice. The other benefit of ASUS is they continue to provide security updates. The price is a little high off sale but it does come with a good warranty.

I highly recommend this router to anyone who is in the market for a router and for someone who does not want to spend over 300 dollars for a router. The router took a few minutes for the initial setup. Soon after the initial setup, you are presented with many features, ranging from novice users to advanced users. I really enjoy the range of this router. At approximately 50 feet away, I am still connected at 51 Mbps download, 77 dBm, which is enough to operate at that distance. Now if you are within range of 25 feet, you'll have the 5 GHz connection and will have no problem operating to your internet service speeds. One of the features I enjoy using is the Open NAT feature to where to can allow video games to operate in an Open NAT, which ensures less lag for the best online gaming experience. The Open NAT takes about a minute to get setup and is very self explanatory to any user. You also able to quickly Enable or Disable the Open NAT feature with a click. This router is also great with the Aura RGB. There are several presets to the types of glow and colors that would be suitable for anyone with interests to the lights. So far this router has been very dependable for the first month and will update if there should be any new updates or issues.

My tmobile home internet went from 100mbps average download on a Netgear router to 400-500mbps. Very easy to setup with the app and i love the features the app has such as the gaming port, system monitor to check ram and cpu usage, the live traffic monitor, not constantly running speedtests, the ability to create a mesh network, and the fully customizable RGB lighting, and the app look sick when you set it up. Amazing for 200 dollars, could not have a picked a better router for the price

I dont typically write reviews on routers because typically they do what they're... expected to. Then... this thing comes along and it does a LOT more than ahays advertized. Including being able to plug my netgear ac1800v3 as a supply of wifi, and still be able to use air link for my quest no hassle, no real slowdown on my devices, and not to mention the game mode that really works. Oh and the list really does go on. Truth be told, I feel like i saved about 150 bucks with this thing, because it was faster than what reviews actuallt SAID. Faster! This thing is reliable, fast, secure, and includes that good wifi 6 mesh support. I highly recommend!

ASUS AX5400 RT-AX82U) - Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Internet Router, AURA RGB, Gaming & Streaming, AirMesh Compatible, Included Lifetime Internet Security- Recently upgraded my home internet to the cable 1gbps connection and my old wifi router was hiccup on wifi TV, computer and security WIFI cameras and not transmitting anywhere near the speeds to justify the upgrade. After doing some research and reading independent professional reviews, I settled on this router and I was pleasantly surprised. The wifi connection is strong and spans well beyond my entire house, no need adding a signal booster. Not only that but the speeds are so much better. Very highly recommended!

This router is fantastic. I used to get about 250-300 Mbps over wifi 5Ghz with a fiber from Century Link. My setup is one floor above where the router lives. The screenshot shows my new speeds while connected to the 5Ghz band. This router completely replaced the router that we're renting from Century Link with this. If you're using Century Link fiber, do the following. -Set up your WiFi network. -Put in your PPPoe info in the WAN area Test your connection. If it's not working, do the following. -Click on LAN, then IPTV at the top, choose your ISP from the dropdown. If your ISP is not listed, continue on. -Google to see what your ISP needs your LAN needs to be tagged as. -Go back to LAN > IPTV, choose "Manual" from the dropdown -In the "Internet" area, put what your LAN tag needs to be in the VID field. This should get your internet working. Keep in mind, this only works if you have a separate modem from your router (such as a fiber input). This router will not replace your modem, only the router functions built in to your modem/router box your ISP gave you. Hope this helps! Good luck! Enjoy this router - it's great!

This router is amazing! I am not a gamer but wanted to have a fast router that was WiFi 6 capable. This fit the bill perfectly. I had tried several other routers (Google, Netgear and even other Asus) but this one was the best at everything. I have several smart home devices that struggled to connect and stay connected to the other routers, but with this one, it connects fast and has no issues with staying connected. I have Google Fiber and love the speed I get from the two together. I never have issues with streaming something on TV in different rooms or browsing/streaming/music combo. The app has some really great and user-friendly features. You don't have to be an IT expert to use and lets you customize your router to fit your needs. Allows you to prioritize devices or different tasks based on your needs. Its easy to see all connected devices quickly and see what might be taking up your bandwidth and quickly block access if necessary. Its a good size router and for those who have it displayed, the LED can be customized to a variety of settings helping make it a little less of an eyesore. I had other routers that were better to look at, but Id rather have the quality and speeds and features that come with this one. If you're needing a new router, this one should be on the top of your list!

Best router for the price range! Reliable, easy to setup, great features and amazing performance.

The setup is easy. The range is good. I'm subscribed to 365mbps internet speeds. Somehow I'm running at over 430mbps. Little to no latency. Tons of bandwidth for over 20 devices. There are some oddities though. One of my gaming systems went from open NAT to strict. I'm working on that. My previous router I was able to fix this issue, but have not yet with the Asus. Doing port forwarding was a little more difficult than necessary. When streaming through Xbox one there's a two second buffering stutter at the start of any show. This could be Xbox or this router, but my previous router did not do this, so take it for what it's worth. Bottom line: If you need a router that's fast and efficient this is good. If you have multiple gaming devices of different manufacturer (Xbox, playstation, Nintendo) this is also good. If you have multiple gaming devices of the same manufacturer, you'll run into NAT issues that seem to be unsolvable.

Easy to set-up. I bought this to replace an older Nighthawk that was having issues with its 5ghz networking. Set-up was simple, my connection speeds have been great even when streaming games on my PS5.

This router is amazing. There’s so much customization and QoS settings to get just what you need. I set up an external hard drive to be used like a bootleg file server. You can even set up your own host to gateway VPN so you can access your home network from anywhere! The signal strength is good all over my house, but if you have a big enough house you can buy other ASUS routers and set up a wireless mesh network to extend the range but keep one SSID to make transitions seamless. Also it looks cool lol.

The coverage area is better than i was expecting and exceeded what i needed. It's a really awesome design and works very well for us gamers!

Outstanding piece of technology!!! I came from a Spectrum provided router and noticed some performance issues when multiple devices running 4k video and gaming. Switching to this ASUS router has been a huge difference!! Setup was a breeze and coverage is awesome!!

Tech has gone a long way, years ago, its quite complicated to use 2 or more routers in the same network. Nowadays, well in this case. Asus has made it quite simple for everyone. The Asus app is well designed, very intuitive and stable. Most if not all of the settings are done within the app. I decided to get 2 of these RT-AX82U to serve as AI mesh nodes to my primary router, the RT-AX86U. Setup was a breeze, once you got it plugged in, the app does the work for you. Every connection is stable which in my opinion is the most important quality of a router. Speed relies mostly on your provider… Highly recommended product..!

I love this router! This router is small, sleek, & light-weight. The app is very user friendly, allowing for a quick and easy set-up, with an interface that allows you to access the various settings and controls in an instant. The app allows the user to select an LED light display, (if desired), there are several pre-programmed displays with multiple color options to fit any environment. WiFi connection is solid throughout my house with quick speeds. The app has the ability to allow the user to optimize the router settings to be geared more for gaming, streaming, business, etc... along with multiple family friendly safety settings.

I exchanged a 3pk tplink mesh system for this Asus RT-AX82U and it was very easy to installed using their app. I was shock after my network was up and running, the speed Im getting are way better than I was getting with Tachus mesh pods. Im glad I returned the previous ones i bought to replace Tachus pods because both Tachus pods and TP link were bad with speed but this baby Asus router is amazing, im getting above 900mbps both download and upload. And the router design looks so cool! Very futuristic and the led light infront of the router are customizable. Im extremely pleased with this router and i recommend anyone to buy it, great quality product and high speed for a very affordable price.

So easy to set up using the Asus router app. Blazing fast AX speeds blowing away my AC router. Perfectly reliable. All our devices have connected and don’t drop! Lights are fun to change using the Asus app.
