The only laptop can cause overheating issue is HP brand. It's known for overheating from most models they designed for except for business level laptops used at companies. This ASUS laptop does not overheat due to adding another SSD. If you add another 5400 RPM standard hard drive, then it might overheat due to the nature of the hard drive instead of the laptop. Samsung 980 M2 SSD is the top brand model in the market plus that the laptop has a powerful RTX 3070 graphics card and cooling system, so it should never overheat unless you play heavy graphics games. That overheating issue will happen to any laptop when you play heavy graphics games. Once the game is over, the laptop will cool down fast.
