It certainly should providing the distance is within reasonable tolerance. Mine works at a distance of about 200 feet. The only way to know is to simply try it. Best Buy said it's fully returnable within a few weeks.

But make sure you check with your laptop manufacturers manual to check what type of usb it has so you can get the most speeds out of your product. But after all of that it still might not work but best of luck!
