I upgraded RAM to 24GB and the SSD to an NVMe 500GB for about $60 (parts came from Amazon). Used the free Disk Genius to clone the drive. You will also need an NVME to USB adapter (about $12). Takes less than 30 minutes to do it. Go on YouTube for a video that shows how to do it.

However, if you are bit scared of doing it (and who wasn't at the beginning), look at a YouTube video or two for upgrades to this model and judge for yourself whether you might want to try it. It's a good skill to have, and really not that scary after a while.
