Not sure what capacity RAM modules you're using. I have not read how much RAM this notebook supports. Having a bad slot would be highly unlikely. Problems like that are rare, but not necessarily impossible.

The best way to assure that you are getting the right stick is to open the unit, write down the info printed on it, then use that to search further. The second best way is to use one of the major memory sellers, like Crucial or Kingston. On those websites, you enter the type of computer, make (manufacturer), then model, and you will get the information you need to order it. Some RAM sellers even have a software utility that you can download and that will search your system to provide the information. The third method is to go to the computer manufacturer's website, where you will invariable find the RAM. I leave this method for third place because the manufacturer usually charges a premium to guarantee it will work.
