“I don't have a home phone. I ordered service from Spectrum & they said to plug the phone into the modem. Does this phone work when plugged into a modem or is a different phone in order. I'm a sr. & don't understand tech talk. If new phone which one?”

Hi, I'm also a senior. If your cable provider has set up their system right you should be able to plug the base into one of the regular phone outlets in your home. If this doesnt work then it will work by plugging into the telephone slot on the modem as long as you are signed up for telephone service thru your cable provider. Each opening on the modem should be labeled, some even have 2 telephone line slots

Think of it like this- the information transmitted so you can hear a phone call or someone can hear you is transmitted through your modem instead of the wires in your wall & an old school phone Jack. We have an Internet phone line through our cable company and our phone is plugged into our modem.
