Yes this phone will work on a different floor from the base unit. We have the base unit downstairs in the kitchen and two of the extension handsets upstairs in bedrooms and they work just fine.

Please try again later.Yes, the base we have is on upper level of our home and 2 extensions upstairs, as well as 1 extension in basement, and 2 extensions outside the house: a shop and another covered outbuilding-both about 150-200 feet from the house and base. Reception is great, even at extensions outside the house!
