No, the feature must be activated or all calls will come through. When you do have the feature turned on, you do have an allow and block list. So if you already know some common numbers that call in, go ahead and add them to the list. Basically what happens is, the caller will receive an automated response saying smart screen is active, please say your name or whatever after the tone. On my side, while the screening is happening, the phone will flicker and light like it's ringing, but with no audible tones. After the caller announces their name, your phone will ring and it'll say "Call from
" Like receiving a collect call back in the day. If you get a call from someone you forgot to add, you can easily just go through the caller ID history and click save and add to allow list.
