• NO light indicator on EITHER the Handset OR the base. That is why I gave it 2 star rating. And you need to pick up phone AND light up screen to see the message saying "New Voice Mail message" . And to make it worse, when listening to messages - new or saved - you need to wait until message if played fully through - before you can hit 7 to delete it!

• There is a flashing red light on the base unit and an audible beep about every 10 seconds when you have a new message on the answering machine.

• If you are talking if the hand phone that is remote lights up, the answer is yes when the phone rings.
