• You should be able to just get a new sim from att. It uses a micro sim not a nano. I used the sim it came with to replace the sim on one of my lines.

• You should be able to get the SIM card activated using the now unused line (number) and insert that SIM into this device. As I recall, the device does come with an unactivated SIM card. Otherwise, contact AT&T to issue a new SIM card if needed.
