Samsung, Google and Apple at the least - maybe others - have some emojis that do not exist on other platforms. When you pick one of those the recipient might get nothing, or they might get a slightly different emoji than you chose. The only other cause could be some kind of a problem with a 3rd party texting app. If you're using the Samsung messaging, change it to the native Android app, or install a new one.
