The telephone installer wired my unit, (line 1/L 1 +L2). There was a lot of trial and error attempts. If it didn't work, he had to take the unit back. It finally worked at the end of the day.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had a similar challenge and realized later that I had the wires in the incorrect receptacles on the back of the phone. The handset defaulted into the actual Phone line in. Swapped them around and finally had a dial tone when you press the line 1. Prior to this, I was going to return it. Worth a try.
