• It has a standard phone jack that is currently the standard. If you have a really old phone wiring that uses 4 pins on a 1 inch square block and has not been upgraded to the current standard, you would need to change the outlet and/or get an adaptor. This older system was in use over 30 years ago.

• Not sure what is meant by a 'standard' plug; it comes with a 4-or-so-foot cable that plugs into any standard phone jack.
