Yes, it will work with your older amplifier if you have an AUX RCA input. I'm a broadcast engineer. My recording ear picked up a hum that others would not hear. The hum is not normal even for an entry level unit. I upgraded to the Audio Technica LP120USB. It is available in both black & silver, I had to get silver unit shipped to me while the black unit was readily in stock in the Kansas City Metro area stores.

You may connect the turntable to the PHONO input or to the AUX input on your Receiver. When connecting to the Receivers PHONO input, you will need to bypass the turntables built-in phono preamplifier by placing the preamp selector switch located on the rear of the turntable in the PHONO position. When connecting to the Receivers AUX input, you will need to us the turntables built-in phono preamplifier by placing the preamp selector switch in the LINE position. Try both and use the connection that sounds best to you!
