Does this require a separate amplier? null

It requires either a separate stereo amplifier with passive speakers attached to the amplifier, OR a set of active (aka powered) speakers. According to the Best Buy website, the speakers included in this bundle are powered type speakers with RCA type input jacks, so these speakers are all you should need.
