I would recommend the audio quest hdmi cinnamon or high in terms of quality your looking for.

I use the audioquest cinnamon cables with my Sony bravia (non 3D) and Sony sound bar. I think I understand about what you mean about the picture and I believe that it really depends on the source of the show you are watching as well as how it was made. A lot of older shows ( I am a big fan of the show Emergency) don't look as good because they just didn't have the quality back in those days. Hope this helps..

For what the Geek Squad guy told me, the HDMI quality will be more noticeable on the sound... so, if your issue is the image, then you may just need to try the next level up of what you have? If money is not an issue, Audio Quest is amazing, but frankly, kind of expensive... other than that, I used to get Monster and similar although I've read a lot about how even the cheaper ones would deliver the same quality... Sorry I can't help... just wanted to address the fact that, for what I understood, the main difference will be noticed on the sound.. of course, I am assuming you already have high speed cables, right?

When it comes to choosing cables, there's no one "right" cable - it's a case of going with the best cable you can.  This is because cables cannot improve the signal they carry, they can only make improvements by introducing less distortion into the system and doing less harm to the signal.  The less distortion, the better. The best cable therefore is the one that introduces the least distortion and affects the signal as little as possible. And this is true for all cables.  And the further up the line you go, the better it gets.

This equally true for digital cables, such as HDMI cables, as it is for analog cables.  Having said all that, take a look at Cinnamon – it’s an excellent “bang for the buck” cable.  Of course, should your budget allow you to select an even better cable, the performance will simply be that much better.
