You may have figured this out already, but this can be hooked up to any port that's labeled HDMI, the question is....can your laptop "OUT" sound from its HDMI port. This cable is just the messenger, you have to find out if your laptop can do what your asking here. Which i think it could if it has an "HDMI OUT" port. That means it will send video and sound out and this cable will 100% deliver both for you. So in essence, you using this to connect your laptop to your Sound bar should work like a charm.
