- Answer the cable has 4 wires in side (each looks skinny), at 17 AWG each as printed on the cable, they form 2 pairs for biwiring or bi-amp. If running as regular wire, just bind red to red, black to black, then gauge is increased to 14 AWG (https://www.wirebarn.com/Combined-Wire-Gauge-Calculator_ep_42.html). Wire gauge is a measurement of cross section dimension which limits cable length (https://www.cambridgeaudio.com/usa/en/blog/speaker-cables), not sound quality, which depends more on wire material and design. I replaced 14 AWG original Monster speaker cable (single wire, looks thick) with this one (biwiring) and see easily noticeable improvement. I am not sure if it biwiring or the cable, or maybe both.
