• You CAN issue codes via your smartphone, as long as you have the "August Connect" device plugged in, which communicates via WiFi to your router. (Without the "August Connect" you'd have to rely on Bluetooth only, which has a very narrow range for connection.) By purchasing the August Connect (or the August Smart Lock Pro + Connect) you will be able to assign codes remotely. The previous answer was incorrect.

• You need to buy the white bridge in order to use this far away. Also, you need to gave Wi-Fi in order for it to work for away. (wow you asked this a year ago) lol

• As long as you have the hub connected to the network it's easy to send out guest codea, and you can still see when they are used to go in or out.
