It does not have to be connected to wi-fi but being able to transfer files and get status reports makes wi-fi worth doing. You can create/slice on your desktop, transfer to a mini-SD and place the mini-SD in the printer port. Really easy to do.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Needs to be on Wifi to be able to get print jobs from either your phone or PC. Unless you copy the print jobs to the microSD each time and then insert that into the printer and print from the printer that way. Which it's a bit cumbersome to do that. You'll also want it to be on the Wifi to be able to get firmware updates when they release, which they've released 2 since I've owned mine (1 month).
