The only way to steal the back up camera would be to gain access to the wired connection point in the truck which is highly unlikely. It could be vandalized but it would be of no value if not completely removed.

Please try again later.Regarding the camera getting stolen off your car: It is possible someone could cut the wire and remove the camera, but it would be worthless to them as it would not include the power cord (which connects to one of your reversing lights) and the wireless transceiver (both of which are inside the trunk). Also, this camera has a special power cord for your GPS unit that has a little receiver inline with the cord--and the thief would not have that either. As for maintenance: there is none. No batteries, nothing to clean.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The wires go into the interior of the trunk so no way to remove it from the outside. I was told by the great installer at best buy that if there were any problems with it just come back in and they would look at it.
