Kent, The transmitter is spec'd to broadcast 50 feet so using it on a pickup shouldn't be a problem. As for weatherproofing the connections, there are several sealants you can purchase at your local autocrats stores or most department stores that will make the connections water-tight. RV sealants are great for this type of issue. Good luck! Ward
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Kent, I had no problem mounting the camera and transmitter inside....Keep the transmitter facing the GPS receiver for the most effective range. My installation works 100% with no dropout at about 45 feet, through the walls of my travel trailer, reaching the receiver inside the truck....I keep it on all the time, not just when backing up. That requires a 12 volt source which is hot when the camera is needed. Don't use a source which cannot be turned off since that would eventually drain your battery. Good luck.
