yes, you will need to lower the expectation. i've found the sony MDX noise-canceling headphones much better.

Please try again later.Noise Cancelling is intended to be only at certain frequencies, like street noise or "background noise", not a total blockage, so you can reduce external disturbances but still be able to have a conversation... I am not sure if there is any headphones designed to provided a complete cancelling
