• Yes it does. It comes with a little black rubber ring that you put on the tip to limit insertion depth. It is called an ear canal protection plug and is described in the manual.

• No, it does not. I can clearly see my ear drum with this device, and I believe that if I pushed it in further its probe would touch the ear drum. I can't tell for sure, but I'm not going to test that out!
