• Yes, you can use other headphones with this. I tried with a another brand and it worked fine. I also tried a pair of Samsung headphones and it worked also.

• Hello there, jimW13. Yes, you can use your 3.5 mm JBL headphones on the RockStar adapter. Your headphones/earphones need not to be Apple to work with it.
