“I use Safari as my browser. I just bought a Connect USB-C to USB- Adapter I didn't notice the small notice in the lower right hand corner of the box that says:"works with chromebook. Is it compatible with safari?”

Safari is a browser program, usually only found on Apple products. This product is a connector cable which plugs into many devices, including Apple products such as iPad/iPhone which have USB-C ports, not Lightning. Safari as a browser doesn't usually send things over USB. Your question is quite confused about the pieces of your setup.
