• Yes it should play sound with video. We have used it to display YouTube videos from our Mac mini to a big screen with no problems.

• Yes you should get video and sound. I have played you tube videos through it from my iPhone and it worked great on an 80” tv.

• This adapter also supports audio, Milt. Note that your laptop must support DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 3.
