• It holds 7 cups. It has an nice on/off switch, down to turn it on, up to turn it off. It has an auto-shut, it shuts itself off when it's rapidly boiling.

• The capacity is approximately 58 ounces /7.1 cups. There is a maximum fill line on the side of the glass, You do not have to unplug it to turn it off. The tab shown under the handle is the "turn on" button and works by pushing it down. Once the water reaches boiling it springs up and turns off the kettle...or you can push it up manually to turn it off yourself.
