I haven't noticed any "excessive" smoke, but this may answer that question... DON'T use the "Air Fryer" setting when baking something that will produce grease (ie: hamburger patties). I did that and it blew grease all over the inside of my oven. I forgot that the air fryer setting acts basically like a convection oven, which blows the heat around the oven to even cook the food; ergo, blowing the grease around as well. I hope this helps!
