• I personally have brushed my things with avocado oil...has a higher heat smoke temperature...but it's never a pour into the bottom situation. Its to keep it moist and crisp.

• Well, you can sure have oil on your food, but you don't actually "fry" with oil in these. You bake, it's basically a very efficient convection oven. The inside is non-stick so you don't really need any oil for anything, though.

• Yes!! Its highly recommended that you coat whatever you put in the basket with some oil. I like to cook chicken, for example, in it. Take the chicken and lather it up in oil then season it with Italian herbs. Helps the season stick to the chicken, its cooked in oil, and it doesn't stick to the tray.
