I bought one of these recently and it works just fine facing a wall behind our TV, and it is not even high up on the wall, as is often suggested. Only issue was I had to ensure it was not directly opposite to our air conditioning unit which is the other side of the wall (outside). Get great reception here in Houston for all the local channels, all in HD.

We live in a large metro area and were able to get many channels. And we dont miss cable at all. Its worth a trial run.
