“I had to have a new hdmi cord installed and the new team reattached the tv on the mount a little to far to the right. Can I release the lock with the drop cords and slide it a few inches to the left without having to take the tv down?”

Yes if your careful the top of the bracket (with the lip) has stops on each end to prevent it from sliding completely off
