Yes, this will transition on its own between carpet and hardwood or stone or whatever you have.

My area is larger than that and I have hardwoods and carpet. It easily makes the transition from each room to another.

Mine works well going from only hard wood floor to carpet but I have only used it a short whille .My only frustration is to program it to do one room at a time thorouly and .not move to do other spaces until one area is well cleaned. Good luck
