• Its better to do vac since vac and go on all surfaces. You can then go and mark areas for mop only.

• You can do both, but I recommend vacuum only while mapping. You simply may not want damp carpet while it takes the time to map a room or floor.

• Doesn’t matter, there isn’t a “mapping run” feature. Just run it in the way you want. It will just map and quickly too. Mine was mapped after the first mopping.
