You can split them up…I did….you just need a separate sync module 2 at the 2nd location according to Best Buy support staff. Worked fine

The sync module is the hub the cameras communicate through to function properly. With only the one sync module that comes with the 5 pack you would have to keep the cameras together at the same location.
