I had my maintenance guy at my complex put it up for me. He mounted to the wall on the side of the door. A neighbour of mine has hers mounted to the door itself, she said she used the 3M tape.

I have a rental apartment and I bought a mounting case for this particular camera that slides over the door and screws into the door itself with a rubber tip that doesn't damage the door. Very easy to set up and install, nothing to it.
