• The hard wire is only to connect with your existing indoor doorbell. The batteries power the camera.

• The battery is used as a back up for when you loose power. And thats its way of telling you your battery is dead

• I wonder if a wire got disconnted after the install? The battery is there in case there is a power outage. normal door bells wont work in an outage. power goes out it is still filming,
