• Can't imagine why it didn't work unless your WiFi is 5GHz only. Most WiFi have 2.4Ghz even very old ones, while quite a few new ones have both 2.4 and 5GHz.

• Im not sure what you meant by requires wifi but maybe you are just missing a step to get it connected. We did had to work on my inlaws cam when we are are setting it up. There was a step that we figured out that why it wouldn’t connect is that we had to connect wifi connection of the camera first then connect to your wifi at home. So you have to exit the app to got to setting to find the wifi from doorbell cam connect to it then follow the rest of the instructions. Hope that helps.
