Yes if you want. I have mine set for motion detection. You can also log in to app and see live feed. You can also talk through it!!!

The Blink cameras, when armed record clips based on motion detection only. The Blink cameras do not offer continuous recording through you can leave the system armed for motion detection for any interval of time.
