In my experience the actual utility of the filter depends on what it has been and is filtering. I replaced one at six months and it had been used during construction and was filthy but it did still seem to be working. Another BlueAir I have (the 311) worked for about eight months and then I could smell cooking odors. Replaced the filter and no odors.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are 3 layers to the filter, and they are all cleanable / washable. If you see particles, you could vacuum them off or take the filters off and clean them in the sink or washer some of the plastic parts (not the electrical ones) could go in the dishwasher. Or you can buy a new filter and skip cleaning it, whatever floats your boat.
