The Bolt receives content from a coax cable which is connected either to an antenna (for over the air broadcast) or your cable provider and this video source doesn't require an internet connection. The Bolt uses your internet connection for getting your programming guide information and streaming content through the built in apps, such as Netflix, Hulu, PLEX, Vudu, and Amazon Video. The speed of your internet doesn't matter for getting your programming guide information. I'd say 5mb connection would be sufficient for streaming content but faster is better and if you plan on streaming content from more than one device (another tivo, phone, or tablet) you'll want more bandwidth. If you have tivo's in multiple rooms you can stream shows from one tivo to another but the speed of streaming shows from one tivo to another will depend on the speed of your router in your home rather than your home's internet connection speed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have 18mbps service with the Bolt and aTivo Mini and it works very well.
