“We have a cable TV provider but do not have “Cable Box's” in our apartments. Wlll TiVo work by using a standard TV cable from wall cable inlet directly into the TiVo, than another cable from the TiVo into the TV, since it would not replace any cable box?”

It used to but the cable company is going all digital, box required everywhere by the end of 2017. Had to get a cable card for 2 bucks a month, it included the required digital adapter.
