“I have an 800 series washer and need a dryer. I read the 500 series uses a heat pump which reduces the heating in the room. Does the 800 series use a heat pump as well or just condenser and what is the difference? Is 500 dryer compatible with 800 washer?”

Hi JohnF, thanks for your question and interest in Bosch! Our 800 Series (model WTG865H4UC) is a condenser dryer, and our 500 Series (model WTW87NH1UC) is a heat pump dryer. The differences between heat pump and condensate dryer types are as follows: Heat Pump – no heating element, no need to clean the condenser (self-cleaning), cycle time takes a few minutes longer than condensate; Condensate – 2,520 watt heating element, condenser needs to be cleaned (remove and rinse condenser periodically), slightly shorter cycle than heat pump. Bosch Dryers are supplied with an adapter (part#WTZPA20UC ) to fit a standard 4-Prong, 30A, Dryer receptacle (NEMA 14-30R) to power both Bosch Washers and Dryers. We hope this information helps.
