A:Answer It doesn't dissolve foods as it washes. But it has a trap and 2 filters that keeps the water going through the sprayers clean from food particles. I'm sure if enough washes are run, the food dissolves and is eliminated. But under normal conditions, the trap & filters need to be cleaned periodically depending on how you load your dishes. If you scrape your dishes before loading, you will probably want to clean the trap & filter 4-12 times a year. If you rinse off the dishes first, 3-6 times a year.
