QuestionDoes this unit come supplied with a Bosch quick-start kit including the special junction box power cord, drain hose and water line or do those items need to be purchased separately for installation?

- Answer The delivery men charged me an extra charge of $80 for the electrical box and power cord installation. This was a charge on top of the installation charge by the retail store.

- Answer Hi char. Thank you for your question. All Bosch Dishwashers have a flow through water heater. Bosch dishwashers' flow-through water heaters increase water temperature inside the appliances, eliminating the need to pump hot water into them. The heaters can raise water temperature as high as 162 degrees Fahrenheit.

- Answer Yes, they do. I don't know where the odor comes from. I thought it might've been just because it was a new dishwasher, but now that we have had it for about 2 months, the odor is still there.

- Answer PRO: They are hidden from kids who want to push the buttons. Also it has a better look. CON: there is a led that shines on the floor to let you know it’s running and the Door beeps when it closes. Your just not sure how far along you are at a glance. It’s easy to restart but you need to interrupt the cycle.

QuestionIs this machine have knives for food disposal?

- Answer Hi marie. Thank you for your question. Model:SHPM78Z54N does not have a hard food disposer. Bosch dishwashers do not have or need a "garbage disposal" since Bosch dishwashers have a three stage filtration process which removes 100% of food particles from the wash water. Plus, the up to 162 degree wash and rinse water softens and breaks down foods. In fact, Bosch recommends users DO NOT PRE-RINSE your dishes prior to placing into dishwasher, simply scrap off the larger food debris and place "dirty" dishes into the dishwasher. The remaining food activates the enzymes in today's detergents for maximum cleaning results.

- Answer The black stainless finish doesn't show obvious fingerprints like a stainless finish would. But, if it gets liquids or semi solids on it, like jelly or gravy, the stains show and it needs to be wiped off to look great again.

- Answer Hi k9erthlvr, thank you for your question. Yes, you can quickly open the door and add dishes at the beginning of the cycle. One recommendation is to clean the filter per the Use and Care Manual. Here is the link for the Manual:https://media3.bosch-home.com/Documents/9001411179_D.pdf. Another recommendation is to use FINISH® Machine Cleaner with 5X POWER ACTIONS once a month, or as soon as you notice build up in your dishwasher. Clean, freshen, and help maintain your dishwasher, while cleaning even the hidden parts.

QuestionI have had this for a few months and I love how it washes. My issue is that I have to take the bottom components out at least once a month to clean the filters. This seems odd.

- Answer Yes that is right. You have to clean it. I rinse mine every time. You do not want food particle to get stuck in the washing spray wands. There are little hose in them to squirt water over the dishes. If food get stuck in the holes then they will not squirt to clean. Because you wait so long then the filter will get really dirty. Then you have to use a brush to clean it. I just rinse mine. Clean it more often. Remember you are putting very dirty dishes into the dishwasher. Where do you want the dirty stuff to go? In the dishwasher pump? For me because there is a filter this dishwasher will last a very long time. I have no problem cleaning the filter. When to unit is finished the dishes are spotless every time.

- Answer The dishwasher said its 42dB. when run around 42dB, but there a few time during its cycle run between 43dB to 45 dB like about 5 to 10 seconds.

- Answer Sure- just pick a cycle that doesn't include heated dry. I do the express cycle which takes an hour but does include heated dry.

- Answer Correct - it is just a recessed opening - no latches or buttons to push. All of the controls are on the top panel. I recently purchased this one after having a Bosch with a handle. I didn't think I would like the recessed handle as much, but it really gives it a sleeker built in look.
